Remember when

Frank cannon was definitely a Lincoln man. 1971 mk 3 in the first series, then the all new MK 4 in silver for 1972. He also had a car phone. “Hello, mobile operator get me Xxxx” how cool was that.
Dad got a new MK4 in 1974 I think, in blue with a white interior.
Here’s frank, I pity the drivers seat in his cars, he certainly was a BIG ( fat) man

I came home one day about 3 years ago DSCF2792.JPGDSCF2793.JPGDSCF2794.JPGDSCF2795.JPGDSCF2796.JPG and was amazed to find this stunning 1976 Lincoln Continental parked on a near neighbors drive . His friend had come to visit in his new `toy` . Got chatting to the owner and took these photos . It was a one owner car , matching numbers , totally original with rediculously low mileage . The level of spec was awesome for a 46 year old car . Even the ` starlight ` effect lights in the roof lining worked !!

There’s something special about 70’s American. The height of excess? Certainly. Boy, were they something else or what.

Remember a friend bringing round his newly bought and well looked after '74 LIncoln Town Car (much like the image below) - perhaps only 8 or 10 years old at the time it was quieter, rode better than my late father in laws similar age Rolls Shadow 1. Build quality and materials used obviously were noteably inferior.

Oddly the guy living opposite to me had one too - originally in a dark green/olive metallic colour which he re-sprayed in dark blue and later replace with a later '82 draticallly 'downsized' 302 powered model that was effecively a ponced-up Lincoln Versaille - very much a rip-off of the Cadillac Seville 'bustleback'.......and not a sales success. Nice car for UK roads though.

Two coupes from 1976
Lincoln and Cadillac.

Yes the eldorado convertible was in a class of its own, but Lincoln never did its continental or town coupe in a convertible. So coupes it is.

Just finished watching Bullitt for the umteenth time . Always a good watch with all those 1960`s cars in the streets of San Francisco . Not just the American stuff either , try spotting all the British and European cars ( discounting the same VW Beetles over and over again !). There was a Nash Metropolitan , Healey 3000 , a Series 1 Triumph Spitfire and possibly a Morris Minor convertible but the brief glimpse even on freeze frame was inconclusive . Of course the Mustang , Charger and Jacqueline Bisset stole the show but not necessarily in that order . :ROFLMAO: Something very sexy about a girl in her guys shirt the morning after the night before !

JB’s little 356 was beautiful. It’s still about by all counts.
She certainly stole the show in The Deep.IMG_0102.jpeg

Aston Martin DBS, Sunbeam Imp, MG Midget, Jaguar E Type, Jaguar Mk10......Bizzarrini, M-B 190, 220, 300SE and a Volvo PV544. If you're gonna chase all over San Francisco you're gonna see a lot of cars...! :)

The 80’s seem to be back on one of the sky channels, they are showing TJ Hooker staring William shatner in the staring roll.
Plenty of 80’s and 70’s cars on film.

Remember the Swinging `60`s ? Girls looked like girls , boys looked like boys and life was simple and fun . And only your neighbourhood milk man drove an EV ! 🤟

I remember that wonderful but all too brief period in the early '60's between the invention of the miniskirt and the general adoption of pantyhose......

I think that's what started me on the road to becoming a Dirty Old Man at the age of 20.....:devilish: ;)

Sorry fella's - an AI idiot has been at it with this image - its done the 'rounds' across the internet - shoes are badly wrong and from a much later period 'in the day it would have been flat pumps or kitten heels - if from an earlier period the heels would have been thin stillettos. Evn the tights are all wrong and should have been white or very pale. 'Pump-up' magnification of the image and the anonomolies appear.
