What's Going On at Ian Allan?

Last week, Ian Allan had seven C8s in stock, all at pretty attractive prices.
I went to check their web site again this morning and they were all marked "Reserved".
So I contacted them and was told by Craig that they'd all been sold and Ian Allan is no longer a Chevrolet dealer.
That's a bit of a shock, especially as I was about to go down there to look for a C8.

Adrian Dromey reckons they've got the hump with GM because they had given dealership to 2 other firms in the UK.

Does anyone have any more on the inside story?

Not surprised really, what was a £109,000 car a few weeks ago had been reduced to £80,000 with some even less.
For anyone who was considering buying one it was a cheap new C8.
If they have sold all of them for the price they had reduced them to, then I think it’s a two finger Job to probably not only GM but to the dealers who have been appointed by GM as their new Corvette UK dealers.

I noticed this as well last week as I had been keeping an eye on their website, I think there were Camaros suddenly 'reserved' as well.

I think it's far more likely the existing stock has been passed to the new dealer.
Hmmm not so sure, why would the new dealers buy from Ian Alan when they can probably make more money on the new ones they buy from GM, it would also give them more brownie points with GM themselves, I would also imagine that the new dealers have a quota that they have to take from GM. When I picked up our new Corvette from Ian Allan’s they said this might happen, they thought though that it would be a middle man who would buy them from GM then sell to the likes of Ian Allan, that’s why they were advertising buy your Corvette before the price rise. I did know that GM were not too happy with the way Ian Allan were buying the Corvettes from GM, Ian Allan would only have so many at their premises, the rest were kept at the docks and Ian Allan would only get them when a deposit was paid upfront.

I phoned parts USA up at Stockport last week, they said they will still be a GM authorised service centre and are able to do any warranty claims.

I think one will find that Ian Allen 'lost' their official status as the UK's sole registered dealer many months ago when GM had their huge purge and laid-off most European based staff.
Could be wrong but I thought that IAM 'smelt the coffee' (relating to their dealer 'fragility') and bulk ordered a mixed shed load of C8's back in late '23 which comfortably seemed to keep them going right up to just now with 2023 and subsequently 2024 models? - wonder how they managed to finance all that stock?
Yes, some people may well have just got themselves a presumably great deal, especially if one bases and compares IAM's previously advertised list prices vs 'sale' prices and more recently Arnold Clarkes 2025 published list prices. But are they really worth the new 'elevated' prices?

The cars that were still at the docks still belonged to GM as no money had been passed over from Ian Allan’s, they only became Ian Allan’s when a deposit was paid, that’s what they told me anyway, it would make sense in so much as Ian Allan wouldn’t have to fork out all the money upfront. Guess we will never know the real reason as both parties will lay the blame on someone else’s doorstep. I can see that there will be more C8’s on the road than C7’s.

I doubt very much GM would ship over cars to the UK dealer without some sort of payment. My friends dealership in Florida has to pay for cars delivered within 4 weeks. Overseas dealers would probably have to pay some sort of deposit prior to shipping to their country. GM probably would insist on some sort of payment up front
