Black exteriors really suffer in the Florida sunshine. The amount of black daily drivers that look shabby after a few years is amazing.

That exactly true. That’s why we’ve got some great color combinations on old American cars nowadays. They were all the original owners preferences.

And there lies the problem with most current cars on the market, whether Euro spec' or American.
Trim colour - a very dary grey that the manufacturers call black. A pale grey colour that thats been modelled on an office or commerical unit. A cream colour thats been modelled on......well, see the previous description for pale grey. You may see a red option that has has a strange pinkish shade. And thats about it......the height of blandness,
Step-up a few notches and perhaps look at a Rolls, Bentley, top end Merc and you'll see more of the above.......not that the manufacturers don't offer alternative colourways - no, its the monocromatic buyers who insist on pure white or cream interiors. You may see an all black interior or worse a combination of black and white unholstery........
Probably the same people who are choosing to install grey double glazing and doors with matching surface finishes and faux grey slate roofs on their houses........

It’s the mk1 Audi TT’s fault. All the journalists were banging on about how brilliant the silver/grey/black interior was. Worst thing to ever happen to car design.

A friend has exactly the same car, same color. His was also fully restored. Sometimes we parked together at shows, as my fully restored 1957 Thunderbird was peacock blue with a colonial white hard top. They looked great parked together.
