Look for a ski rack to hold your tackle.
I need my Grand Cherokee to get all my fishing kit in these days . Got no chance in the Vette !! What happened to the days as lads we tied a rod to the crossbar if our bike and had a fishing box / seat slung over our shoulder ?

So, is it true what they say? Best two days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it? :)
Loved day I bought my boat and sad the day I sold it but had 10 good years in between . Did a lot of work on it too which I enjoyed . They do soak up money though !! I think the C3 has soaked up more in 8 years though .

Great story , epic journey and a bargain vette at the end of it, bet you feel like the cat that got the cream👍 nice cornish number, my neck of the woods, never seen that one around, where in cornwall was it hiding? Amazing what is tucked away in peoples garages. Enjoy fettling and improving your new toy 👍 talk to Gavin Roe at Ecm performance for parts and advice 👍

At last the Defender arrived back after a week waiting with the engine parts in the back.

First thing is that i will defo want to replace the lifters. Cam is good.

Hang on lets see. How do i find the specs if i can that is by checking codes and cam spec etc to see what the engine is putting out ? I would rather use the parts i have and just get it running, Not that bothered about high HP so standard is fine if it is.

Bench is full so now i can concentrate on the heads and getting them back on first. I am waiting on a build manual from the original owner as he said if he finds it he will send it up to me. Will be needed very much.

Have these from the manifold and cam

And cam

These numbers mean nothing to me at all. It was bad enough looking at cams and all the different yes there are.

I just want a mild road cam really.

Ran my Comp CAM program just to give an idea what CAM types and HP/Tq output was back in early 1980s for Corvette 350 engine
Very mild CAM grinds

What you folk think on this one, Specs read up well i think

Its for a 350 crate with 290hp and headers ( a couple of chaps said headers are bad, like to understand why that is aswell ) with side exhaust.

That CAM grind's LSA is only 112, consider stockers more like 118 plus, so expect less vacuum from startup to about 3,000 RPMs
Would make a lumpy idle and may need more low end timing and idle RPMs bit higher to smooth out a bit

May affect if having auto tranny and ECM controlling it

Okeydoke. what a few weks its been and still not touched ther Vette. Got parts here. An engine service kit and gasket set and also a new set of lifters the other week. No doubt ill need more bits but this is all i caan think o to get the engine back together.

What has been holding me up is the house. I fitted a new bathroom, new floor in the front room. Car searching for SWMBO ( my good wife Tracey ) and i was going to concrete where the garage is going for the Vette but withg the cost and its has been flagged for years why bother. So i need to level and area out and move a few dozen flags about and do so.me concreting.

Also i made some skates for the Vette.

This weekend i plan to put the garage up and get ready to lay power to it from the workshop. By eck my days of digging have waaay gone.

Skates work well. I like to make stuff than buy and these only cost me in castors, about £45 as i had stelel here.

I have made a set of pneumatic lifts to see if i can get the Vette to easy working height but that is in the making still. Must be mad getting back into cars but a Vette is worth any ache or pain or struggle.

Looking good so keep at it. Bit of flat plate on them skates will stop the tyres from deforming maybe
I agree on tje plates, jist dont have any. I just knocked these up quick for now so I can move it around while I build the garage over it if need to move it a bit. It won't be on them long.

I will be concreting this week the gaps and wiring it up maybe next weekend, collecting a work bench then hope to get stuck in to it.

Atleast its nice and warm and dry now :)
